MARYLAND'S LONGEST RUNNING BELLY DANCE FESTIVAL

Embodied Musicality (All levels, 2-3 hours)

This workshop is an exploration of music as a partner, guide, and source of inspiration. Together, we’ll dive into the relationship between sound and movement, discovering how dance can become a visible expression of what we hear and feel. Through a blend of conceptual discussion, guided improvisations, and practical exercises, you’ll learn simple yet powerful ways to tune into rhythm, phrasing, texture, and instrumentation. We’ll play with listening in new ways, responding with clarity and creativity, and allowing musical layers to inform the quality, timing, and intention of your movement. By the end, you’ll walk away with fresh tools to deepen your musical interpretation—plus a take-home handout outlining the key concepts explored in class.

Honeyed Flow (All levels, 2-3 hours)

Honeyed Flow invites you into a world of rich texture, liquid transitions, and embodied expression. This workshop explores fluid spinal articulation, continuous arm pathways, and subtle micro-movements that contrast with expansive, sweeping shapes. We’ll build a movement vocabulary inspired by the slow, steady pour of honey—smooth, intentional, and deeply connected. Throughout class, you’ll experiment with marrying internal sensation to external form, discovering how to infuse strength and softness into every phrase. The workshop will culminate in a short combination designed to highlight your honeyed grace and offer practical tools for bringing more richness, fluidity, and expressive depth into your dancing.

INTENSIVE-

Performance Intensive with Kami Liddle

This immersive performance intensive offers dancers the opportunity to learn and embody an original choreography by Kami Liddle. Participants will receive access to the choreography online prior to the in-person gathering, allowing time to learn the material at their own pace and arrive ready to deepen the work.

Once we meet in person, the focus shifts to refinement—exploring musicality, texture, dynamics, staging, and expressive nuance. We’ll break down the intention behind the movement, clarify transitions, sharpen technique, and uncover the emotional and artistic layers within the choreography. Through guided exercises, group work, and individual coaching, dancers will develop a stronger performance presence and a more grounded connection to the piece.

By the end of the intensive, participants will feel confident, embodied, and fully prepared to perform the choreography with clarity, artistry, and personal resonance. If desired, the intensive may culminate in a live performance or filmed presentation, offering dancers a meaningful opportunity to share the completed work.
