6 Hour intensive includes Lunch and ticket to Friday Show
Let’s get lost in the world of Egyptian dance! This 6 hour intensive will focus on musical and stylistic interpretation in Egyptian dance. We will be working on technique and various styles to bolster expression and artistic flare. Attendees can taste from the buffet of various Egyptian styles; such as Oriental, Shaabi, Baladi, Folklore, and more.
Rest your legs, but not your minds during the middle of class, where we will learn about Egyptian Arabic and gestures in order to better understand the culture and music.
Themes we will be working on throughout the day will include:
What makes Egyptian dance Egyptian?
What differentiates Egyptian dance styles?
What mental tools can we use to better translate the musical texture and nuance of such complex music?
How can we honor the essence of the culture and still maintain personal expression?
How can we make these movements fit in our own unique bodies?
How can we foster linguistic understanding to better dance with sincerity and honesty?
This magical day of dance is welcome to all levels and to all open hearts.
